If you own a pure-bred dog, registered in the American Kennel Club or Canadian Kennel Club, you may like to show him or enter him in Obedience Classes.

A dog club may hold dog shows or run Obedience training classes in your home town or nearby. You can ask the kennel where you bought your dog or your local veterinarian for dog clubs near you and the names and addresses of their secretaries. A club secretary can tell you where you can learn to train your dog for showing and obedience.

Humane societies, like the ASPCA, often conduct training classes in Obedience. You can take a dog of mixed-breed to these classes.

You will enjoy taking your dog, if he is well-trained, to pet shows run by schools or young people's groups like the Scouts.
